Crossing Stamford is a first person adventure game that takes place in the battle of Stamford bridge. This game's purpose is to test out the mechanics that will go into the actual game. The mechanics being tested are the combat system which is going to be realistic but in the prototype it is going to be a very simplistic version of what it is supposed to be. The other mechanic being tested today is the effects system in the game but not all of them because it is just a prototype so the only effect will be the bleeding effect but when the actual game is being built more effects will be added.
Intended audience
The intended audience for the game is 3-25 age range because the game is gonna be simple so that it is easy to pick up and put down and it won't be graphic so that it could exclude young players from playing the game. The max number of players in this game is gonna be 2 because the combat will be one on one and melee based. It doesn't really leave room for lots of players to be in one game. the reason that the intended audience is chosen how it is because of the genre of the game this genre usually appeals to a younger audience so the max age that this game is intended for is 25 but anyone can really play this game.
The game is set up with a 2 player maximum with each player stationed across from each other. each player will choose a weapon they all do the same amount of damage which is 1 damage per attack. Each player will also be given a shield which has a 50% chance to block the attack from the other player; this chance will be decided with a coin flip heads for blocks and tails for no block. if the player hits the other one with an attack it can cause a bleeding effect for the player which causes 2 damage per round. Each player has a max health of 20. Each player for their turn can attack once using their weapon. all the pieces that the player can use are gonna be provided in the box. The first turn will end once the players will attack each other. there will be an infinite number of turns until one of the players reaches zero. Once a player takes damage they will cross out a heart on the heart sheet which both players will receive one. the bleeding effect can stack on enemies which causes more damage to be done to the player.
Processes to Create the Game
Creating this game was a very long process. I had to think of all the parts of the board game like the cover art which is a very simplistic design but it's just a prototype so it doesn't have to be flashy at all. The most challenging part of making the board game was making the game instructions because you have to think through every facet of the game and you have think how the player thinks so you can't make the game too complicated but also not too simplistic because there has to be some challenge for the player so it took me a couple of hours a day to think of all the rules for the game. Making the items for the game was not that hard because the designs for the items that the player receives are very simplistic. Actually constructing the game was another hard part because I had to use all the elements that I talked about previously and apply it physically to the box and make the board and the game.

Cost Breakdown
The amount of materials used is roughly 5 sheets of paper which cost roughly 10 dollars which cover the cost of the items for the game and the game packaging will be made digitally and printed out. The board will also be made out of paper so that will be added to the price of the paper. The total cost of the project will be about 10 dollars which is very cheap.
